Laurianne Bixhain

Artist-in-residence / October 2014

A short text about one of Bixhain's latest works, Electric Bathing:

"The magical fountains erupt at nightfall. Situated on the edge of a giant sports, tourist and cultural complex, they face the city of Barcelona. The basins come to life with a myriad of spurting water jets. The spectators gravitate around the central basin – overcome with excitement, they hug and sigh. The colours are crazy, even brighter than they appear on screen. Dazzled, enveloped in a blanket of mist – «a net at once impalpable and moist»* – the spectators meekly absorb the light."
