The Fade
Molly Palmer / 24 August - 8 September 2013

The Fade is a three-channel video work in which saturated layers of video, ambiguous architectural structures and hand painted sculptural objects combine to create immersive environments. These spaces form the backdrop for a dream-like narrative that explores the transformative potential of personal belief. The story unfolds around a broken mirror, which undergoes a series of metamorphoses to become a symbol of courage, catharsis and hope.

Molly Palmer graduated from Goldsmiths College's Fine Art and Contemporary Critical Studies program in 2007 and has continued to live and work in London, taking part in exhibitions, residencies and screenings at spaces including Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow, Tou Scene, Stavanger, Kala Arts Institute, Berkeley CA, South London Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery, London. Molly contributed three site specific works to London based artists' collective Dial Zero's Art Trail for the parallel program of Istanbul Biennale in 2011 and has been awarded Arts Council England's International Development grant to return and present The Fade as her first solo show in Istanbul. Molly joined the Royal Academy's postgraduate diploma in Fine Art in October 2013.
